How to Lose a Faithful Customer
I just love this excerpt from my interview with Ruth Fisk. This is a true story and one that many of you will have also experienced. I have listened to it over and over. It hurts to know this is true. What examples do you have? Leave a comment below! 👇👇

Digital Transformation in Insurance…yeah a tough subject but I had the opportunity to speak with Ruth Fisk at Smart Communications about just this topic during a recent podcast of New Normal.
The best cities are Built for Kids
I know. I know. Last month I also posted a video I liked about biking. Well, for those of you who do not know me, I bike a lot. If biking is not your thing, that’s cool. We’re still friends.
I met Chris last September in Brooklyn at his shop Propel Bikes where I interviewed him for my podcast. Yeah, that’s also a theme in this month’s newsletter it seems. We talked at length about what could be done to further the interest and understanding of biking. I told him that a talent he has is talking about the biking lifestyle. That he could show people doing biking things, just normal things. Well, this video is one of those stories.
Here a father and his kids do their “normal” things - on a bike. I can watch this over and over. Hope you enjoy this too!

Content Creation
As I have written before, I audit companies to see how their internet presence is going. Since this is all out in the open it can be done from anywhere. I began by chosing local bakeries as it seemed like a good and tasty way to start. Finding them starts with Google and more specifically Google Maps. From there I check on their website to see how up to date it is and is all the relevant information easily found. How do they want customers to contact them? Sometimes it is just a phone number others point them to a messaging app. Then look to see if there is any social activity across the various sites. What I am looking for is content. What content have they created and posted or shared and how is it being received.
Content creation is not a one-and-done activity. It takes time to create the piece, then post it on the right platform but then if this is on social media then to monitor occasionally how it is doing. Are people leaving comments? Has anyone shared your content with their connections? When I speak to businesses, mostly small businesses they are concerned they will not have the time to do this. There are 100 other things needing to be done during the day and checking in on what their content is doing is not, or has not been one of them.
Now, I am not a seasoned pro having always been super organized around the content I create and how I manage it, but there are tools out there which can help. Today I wanted to share my experience with Zoho Social. I started using Zoho a month or so back to schedule my content and to manage my conversations. I am still on a free program but will likely begin paying soon. Note: there are many other tools like this and this is not an endorsement but just how I have been using it. One of my favorite features is the monthly calendar.
I have created a weekly plan for my social content. Mondays is a written post laying out my week ahead. Tuesday I share a photo of me working somewhere (Work from Anywhere) and the other days you can follow me to easily see the types and the days. Zoho allows me to upload my content, assign which platform it should be shared on and when. I share to 5 platforms so it gets busy. You might only use 1 and find this simpler. Then I can amend the text for the specific platforms, like Instagram likes a number of hashtags but Twitter doesn’t. On this monthly view I can see the next day, week or weeks to know what is still to be done. During the month I will sit down and take one of the days, like the Tuesday and create the next 4 weeks of content. When the piece is published Zoho sends me a notification with a link to the piece posted. Zoho also has all the messages and reactions to my content as well and I can reply right from their page. That is my strategy. There is a lot which can still be improved on but it get me ahead of the calendar. If you have any tips, suggestions or questions about creating content, just leave me a note!
Since I have been auditiing bakeries I also look for other interesting examples of bakeries to compare to. Check out this one. Just their Instagram posts make me want to drive the 200km to go there!
