February 2023

OMG! 😳

The last update I sent out was in November. Yes, I missed 2 months of updating my faithful readers.

If you have recently signed up, Hi! I’m Andrew and I run Digital.Done.Right. You’ve probably figured that out as you came across my website - somehow. I love to hear from my readers so I know what interests you.

Beginning in November I began rebuilding my website and as well my business focus. It was much more work than I expected it to be and honestly, I am not completely done. I did announce the new site in early January and that was such a relief. Here if you have not seen it. New Website

Newsletter REdesign

I have been thinking about what I want to share in this newsletter. Here are my current thoughts.

  • Tom Sawyer Travels (my updates)

  • New publications (my latest writings)

  • Latest podcasts

  • What else? (collection of thoughts)

As you will have seen, I have begun to also publish in German. I know some of my current readers may have longed for this version but I am looking for new subscribers who certainly will enjoy a localized version. The content will initially be identical.

Hope you enjoy the newsletter! ☺️

What Else?

IS Anybody chatting?

Who has not played with ChatGPT or one of its various alternates?

I learned a new phrase recently - prompt engineering.

Prompt Engineering: the skill of writing the input query for a search engine or AI system to receive the proper response

Here ChatGPT’s response when I asked what it is:

Prompt engineering refers to the process of modifying the input, or "prompt," given to a language model in order to influence its output. This can be done to control the content and style of the generated text or to steer the model toward a particular goal or task. For example, a prompt for a language model might be modified to specify a specific topic, such as "Write a news article about the latest breakthrough in cancer research," or to include certain keywords or phrases, such as "AI safety concerns." The process of creating the perfect prompts is called prompt engineering.

This was a similar skill I learned back in the early ‘00s - when working with early Google. Tuning the request (or prompt) with qualifiers to get more specific responses. Back then, you could craft a carefully worded query to get better responses. Using a variety of AND, OR “specific terms” and more could get the answers you wanted faster. Today Google probably knows what you are searching for before you search.

I feel I need more space here to write about prompt engineering and ChatGPT. I’ll have it in next month’s newsletter!

Hey, if you made it this far then, thanks! I hope it was worth your time and if you have a comment please leave one below. I am on a journey to learn how people and organizations are coping with this New Normal.
